Not a big deal, but I like it...It breaks up the monotony a bit.
Makes scrolling through the Recent Comments section more "visually flowing", without being too elaborate. It works.
If you stare at them for around 30 seconds, then close your eyes, you can get an after image of a bullet train slamming into an 18 wheeler full of FrankenBerry cereal...Once I got an after image of Thelma and Louise French-kissing moments before impact...
I like them. Anything is better than the orange box with the question mark in them. I like a lot of the changes lately.
All right! They are all computer generated and supposedly we can spit them out in almost infinite numbers - we currently have ten rotating. It's possible that we can assign a unique one to each member without an avatar... the problem is that every once in a while they randomly show up in the shape of a swastika or something.
After a week or so of looking at these things, I have decided that they remind me of those $1.79 air fresheners that people hang from their rear-view mirrors. Maybe they will compel those that have them to post a more descriptive and interesting avatar.
Good call on the air fresheners. My favorite was "Vanilla-roma." I've also heard of another site using default profile pics of Dick Cheney, in an effort to get folks to upload their own.
